Harbin Engineering University, abbreviated as HEU, is situated in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, China, and is now affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is a high-level research university in the fields of shipbuilding, marine, and nuclear engineering. It is one of the first batch of "211 Project" construction universities, and a national "Double First-Class" construction university.

    The Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) is established to cultivate high-level international composite professional talents that urgently meet the requirements of countries around the world. It mainly focuses on cultivating specialized talents with an innovative spirit and international vision, equipped with cross-cultural perspectives, cross-cultural comparison, and cross-cultural interaction capabilities, and capable of handling diversified and multi-level Chinese education and teaching positions in the global context.

    The MTCSOL program at Harbin Engineering University has obtained enrollment qualifications in 2024. By leveraging the advantages of the university’s “Ship-Sea-Nuclear” disciplines, this degree program is dedicated to cultivating high-level, application-oriented, versatile, and international specialized talents. This degree program is supported by disciplines such as foreign language and literature, Chinese language and literature, and education, with a particular emphasis on the Chinese language.

    Centering on the second language teaching ability as the core, we concentrate on cultivating the ability to disseminate Chinese culture, cross-cultural communication skills, Chinese-and-foreign-language communication abilities, educational research capabilities, and career development abilities. Meanwhile, we make full use of various international exchange platforms within the university to provide students with diverse international Chinese education practice opportunities, actively creating disciplinary characteristics and advantages in the specialized Chinese education within the engineering technology field.
