Test Center Provides Test Service throughout Summer Vacation

August 15, 2024 |

July and August are the peak season for IELTS tests every year. During this summer, our school held IELTS and TOEFL tests throughout the season. Through a series of measures and the dedication of the center staff, our college provided sufficient test seats for all the test sessions, and the quality of test work has been comprehensively improved.

Utilization of existing facilities and construction of new ones.

The IELTS computer-based test center on campus has been upgraded and relocated to the first floor of IELTS speaking test venue, enabling test-takers to do different test modules at one location. At the same time, during the summer vacation, environmental maintenance was carried out for IELTS written test center, TOEFL and GRE test center, with new signs and posters put into use. Power supply equipment, monitoring equipment, and air conditioning equipment were also inspected and tested, and the test centers took on a new look to welcome test takers.

    Skillful design.

The test center gave full play to the existing conditions, taking advantages of our school's small but well-equipped examination center, using existing resources to properly set the small venues to ensure the excellent functioning of the test centers. With standards for test center construction satisfied, details were emphasized, ensuring that every test seat was spacious and every passage was wide. With these efforts, teachers and test takers were sure to get an enjoyable experience during test sessions.

    Long-term continuous service.

Center staff and technical workers were all well prepared for work shift handover to ensure that there were center staff and technical workers on every test day. By reasonable arrangement of the existing team, test service was provided through the vacation except on Saturday afternoon, which was reserved for rest and preparatory work.

Reasonable configuration of staff and resources.

With the approach of the tense and challenging test season, our college formed a team of about 10 experienced teachers to provide service and be on standby 24/7 to fulfill the heavy work of multiple tests. During the centralized infrastructure maintenance period, we coordinated various resources, and made good use of backup resources, to avoid conflicts between test arrangements and maintenance work, ensuring the smooth progress of test work.

    Selfless dedication.

During the summer vacation, center staff members persisted in their work and set up dedicated consultation service points in the test venues. To create an excellent test environment, center staff ensured proper ventilation and air exchange in the new test rooms. During hot periods, air conditioning equipment was also checked regularly and repaired promptly to create a cool and comfortable environment for test takers. On test days, route guidance, process guidance, post-test consultation were provided to answer various questions, optimize service processes, continuously improve satisfaction, and help test takers to participate in tests with ease and calm.

    Full play of our strengths.

The technical team of the college conducted comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the examination equipment to ensure proper functioning. Network security protection was strengthened, and through communication with the school's information technology department, a secure, stable, and high-quality network dedicated to test work was built and put into use. Daily drills of emergency response procedures were also performed, with comprehensive considerations given to technical issues that may arise during tests. In addition, fire safety passages, evacuation safety instructions, and smoke alarm equipment were checked on a daily basis.

This summer, the International Test Center of College of International Cooperative Education at HEU provided 1800 test seats for 96 computer-based IELTS test sessions, 480 test seats for 17 paper-based IELTS test sessions, and 500 test seats for multiple TOEFL and GRE test sessions.

Adhering to the concept of "shoulder the mission of the times and serve society as a university", the college has successfully completed various test tasks such as IELTS commissioned by the Education Examination Institute of the Ministry of Education. We provide test takers from our school, Harbin and other cities and places in China with long-term and most stable supply of test seats, and the highest-quality professional test service.

For every student swimming in the ocean of knowledge, each test is like an island to be conquered. All the teachers and staff members of College of International Cooperative Education at Harbin Engineering University hope to illuminate the way forward for all test takers, by providing professional test services. We also welcome test takers from all over the country to come to Harbin Engineering University to participate in various international tests. Through our joint efforts, we hope that each test taker will fulfill his/her passion and dream for further study.
