Recently, in order to implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s multiple reply letters to international students in China, the selection work of the 2024 “Experiencing China” micro-courses and practice bases organized by the China Scholarship Council has come to an end. Through university recommendations and expert reviews, a total of 151 courses across the country were selected as the 2024 “Experiencing China” micro-courses, and 65 locations were selected as the 2024 “Experiencing China” practice bases. The practice base for international students in China jointly declared by our university and Harbin Electric Corporation (HEC) have been successfully selected as the “Experiencing China” practice base. Two micro-courses, “Exploring Chinese Manufacturing Equipment - HEC” and “Living in the Global Village - Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind” have been selected as the “Experiencing China” micro-courses.

HEC is a leading enterprise in China’s national industry. Over the years, it has been committed to building a bridge for international students to have an in-depth understanding of China. The school has successively organized more than 700 international students from universities in Harbin to conduct internship and practice at the headquarters of HEC and its subordinate turbine factories, motor factories and other departments, enabling them to personally experience and learn about the glorious history of HEC in the past 70 years and the unremitting pursuit of China’s industry on the path of achieving technological self-reliance and strength. They have a comprehensive understanding of the glorious history of Longjiang’s industry and its development path in the new era, and closely feel the development speed of China’s industry and its powerful scientific and technological innovation strength, thus getting to know a real, comprehensive and three-dimensional China. The effectiveness of these activities has been highly recognized by the China Scholarship Council.

“Exploring Chinese Manufacturing Equipment - HEC” is taught by Associate Professor Liu Chang from the College of International Education. With vivid teaching methods, the course brings a wonderful exploration journey, unveils the mystery of HEC, showcases the strong strength and innovative spirit of China’s equipment manufacturing industry, enables students to feel the power behind the success of HEC -- scientific research and the spirit of craftsmanship, and helps them understand the vivid practice of HEC’s concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind.

“Living in the Global Village - Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind” is taught by Associate Professor Zhang Jinqiu from the College of Marxism. Starting from the perspective of grand historical view and international vision, skillfully using the problem-chain teaching method and case teaching method, and based on the continuous questioning of the fate of mankind, he leads students to deeply understand the Chinese wisdom, world significance and human contributions in building a community with a shared future for mankind.

This selection of “Experiencing China” micro-courses and practice bases is one of the series of activities on the 10th anniversary of the implementation of the “Experiencing China” activities by the China Scholarship Council. The selected micro-courses will be broadcast on the “CSC Talent Online” training platform of the China Scholarship Council, and the selected teachers will be incorporated into the “Experiencing China” lecturer group, providing referable course examples for the national conditions education of international students in China in various universities. It aims to show a real, three-dimensional China to international students in China and guide them to “understand China and integrate knowledge and action”.
