On August 30th, YU Zhiwen, a member of the committee of the university Party and vice-president of the university, paid a visit to the College of International Cooperative Education to conduct an in-depth investigation into the work during the new term. All leaders of the college, assistant to the dean, personnel from basic academic organizations, and responsible comrades from departments, including the Service Center of International Student, attended the research-oriented exchange symposium.

During the symposium, DING Xuezhong presented a comprehensive report on the overall status of the college, as well as his reflections on how international cooperative education can serve the central tasks of the university in the future. DING Xuezhong noted that, in the face of the new trends of global education reform and the new demands for high-quality international development of the university, the college is burdened with a challenging yet glorious mission of development. DENG Xiaoming and LIU Shusheng, in accordance with their specific job responsibilities, reported on the progress and achievements, current situations and problems, as well as the proposed plans and measures regarding relevant work.

Vice-president YU Zhiwen wholeheartedly affirmed the educational achievements of the college. In line with the spirit of the university’s summer retreat, he set forth requirements for the college’s next-phase work. First, political construction must be prioritized. The college should closely align with the deployment and central tasks of the University Party Committee, and thoroughly comprehend the essence of the school-running principles of “Five Adherences and Five Emphases”. Each principle should be carefully considered. Clear objectives should be identified. The theme should be elevated and strict implementation should be ensured. Second, the college must clearly define its unique characteristics and positioning. By comparing with various school-running and internationalization indicators of teaching and research units, the college should make the most of its own unique features and conditions to make more significant contributions to the high-quality development of the university. Third, the college should be committed to reform and innovation. It should be bold in taking on responsibilities and active in taking actions. It should possess the ambition to be a pioneer and adopt innovative measures that ensure success. The college should ensure the seamless connection between short-term and medium-to-long-term goals, plan ahead for the “15th Five-Year Plan”, seize new opportunities for overtaking during transformation, and strive to become a leading example in relevant domestic fields.
After the symposium, vice-president YU Zhiwen visited the staff in the the Service Center of International Student and raised specific requirements regarding the management of international students, security, and stability.
